Effect of Inhibitors from Adult Connective Tissue on Growth of a Series of Human Tumors in Vitro.

چکیده
factors (growth stimulating and growth inhibiting sub stances) present in normal adult tissue form a growth control mechanism which is responsible for the dormancy of normal adult tissue. An upset of this balance, or the absence of the inhibiting factor, may result in the un restrained growth of cancer. The thesis that neoplasia may represent a disturbance of equilibrium between growth stimulating and growth inhibiting substances was proposed by Murphy (7). Paul (14) in a recent review of the cancer cell in vitro, stated that “Cancer is clearly the result of a defect of the homeostatic mechanisms which maintain the balance among cells in the organism.― The isolation and characterization of specific growth factors from normal adult mice by Levi-Montalcini and Cohen (2, 6), as well as the extraction from normal thymus and other tissues of “promine― and “retine― by Szent-Gyorgyi et at. (5, 19—21) has renewed interest in this hypothesis. SiImns and Stillman (17, 18) described the removal of a “tissueinhibitor― present in adult tissue and in tissue cultures of adult tissue, by enzymatic digestion. Later Simms and Parshley (16) observed that either growth stimulators or inhibitors were produced by enzymatic

متن کاملA STUDY ON THE HEMOPOI ETIC ACTIVITY OF HUMAN PLACENTA IN VITRO, IN THE PRESENCE AND ABSENCE OF STIMULATORS AND INHIBITORS OF TRANSCRIPTION AND TRANSLATION
The hemopoietic activity of the human placenta was studied in vitrc under various conditions in order to assess the optimal conditions of protein synthesis and colony stimulating factor (CSF) production by this tissue. The hemopoietic activity of placental tissue was assayed by the semi -solid agar medium technique. In order to obtain maximum hemopoietic activity, various stimulators were ...
متن کاملTHE IN VITRO GROWTH PROPERTIES OF CELL LINES FROM EPSTEIN-BARR VIRUS-INDUCED TAMARIN TUMORS AND TAMARIN B CELLS TR ANSFORMED BY EPSTEIN BARR VIRUS
EBV-carrying human cell lines, depending on whether the cells are derived from Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) tumor biopsies or transformed by EBV in vitro, have different growth properties in vitro. In contrast, there are no clear differences between tamarin tumor lines and tamarin LCLs in vitro. Both types of tamarin cell lines could grow in agarose and formed colonies unlike human LCLs, althoug...
متن کاملThe Effect of Health Expenditure on Human Development Index (HDI) in Iran, 2001–2014
Background and Objectives: The category of health is closely related to growth, comprehensive development, including economic development and human development. Health expenditure are important factors affecting economic growth. These expenditures can increase human development along with human resource and physical capital. The purpose of the present study was to determine the effect of health...
متن کاملEffect of Simulated Microgravity Conditions on Differentiation of Adipose Derived Stem Cells towards Fibroblasts Using Connective Tissue Growth Factor
Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells able to differentiating into a variety of mesenchymal tissues including osteoblasts, adipocytes and several other tissues. Objectives: Differentiation of MSCs into fibroblast cells in vitro is an attractive strategy to achieve fibroblast cell and use them for purposes such as regeneration medicine. The goal of this s...
